Rolling the dice on connection
with Randstad

Randstad Group lives in a world of CVs, contracts and career moves. But at its core, it’s a people business. With multiple generations working side by side, Randstad wanted a lighthearted way to spark connection and conversation with clients and candidates. The idea: a custom ‘generation connect’ dice game. Not a heavy workshop tool, but a playful, tactile gift that fits on a desk and invites people to engage. Compacon was brought in to manage the production and fulfilment processes.

A game to strengthen client relationships

The brief was straightforward but ambitious: finalise our custom dice-based game with bespoke packaging and sustainable European production. No off-the-shelf solution with a logo slapped on later, but something Randstad could truly call its own. The game would be ordered and distributed via Randstad’s own webshop and logistics partners, so it needed to be easy to ship, easy to explain and instantly recognisable as ‘Randstad’.

A custom dice set as a branded conversation starter

Randstad developed the core concept and visual design for the ‘generation connect’ game themselves, staying close to their brand and HR expertise. We stepped in to help translate that idea into a physical product: a custom dice set with matching packaging, produced entirely in Europe. Sustainable dice from Germany, a tailored box design by GoPacking, and all printed materials brought together into one cohesive, tactile set. The result is a compact gift that feels thoughtful and intentional.

European-made, budget-conscious and on brand

For Randstad, the generation connect game is more than a nice-to-have: it’s a smart touchpoint that reflects who they are: a people-focused brand that understands the value of real-life interaction. Although Randstad hasn’t shared broader campaign KPIs yet, one number speaks for itself: within a year, 99% of the original stock was ordered by Randstad offices. The project stands out for a few clear reasons:
 

  • A fully custom gift produced entirely within Europe. 
  • A sustainable sourcing approach, including dice made in Germany. 
  • A solid price point of around €5.70 per set, proving that custom and local doesn’t have to break the bank. 

Tight planning, local production 

The main challenge wasn’t the idea, it was the execution. Randstad had a firm deadline, so timing and coordination mattered. All elements had to line up: sourcing sustainable materials, aligning with a German dice supplier, developing and producing the custom packaging, and organising distribution via Randstad’s webshop. We built and managed that webshop through PromOnline, giving us control over stock, fulfillment and logistics. We mapped out a detailed plan, coordinated all parties and used our PromOnline tooling and handling expertise to keep the project on track.

A small game with long-term potential

On a desk, in a meeting room or during a client visit, the dice game offers a simple way to start a different kind of conversation. It’s a compact, low-threshold tool that Randstad consultants can pick up whenever they want to talk about generations at work, without a slide deck or formal workshop.
